Hannah is Home

Hannah got to come home today! We are finally able to be together as a family at last. The scoop.... Hannah is stable enough to be home until her heart surgery. It was confirmed that she can hear :) Our job now is to get Hannah to the right weight for surgery and keep her healthy. I can not stress it enough but our Hannah must not get sick or she will end up in the PICU. Due to her heart condition she is not able to nurse or use a bottle... this is the hardest part for me. I would love to be able to feed my baby the normal way but I cant. She uses a stomach tube. Hannah breathes so fast that she burns way too many calories and when combined with her heart medicine she loses weight. So in a way we are force feeding her around the clock (every 3 Hours) to make her gain weight. This to me is the most overwhelming because it seems to take so much time to get ready and then by the time she is finished and everything is cleaned (including that I also pump every few hours) its time to start all over. It will be okay, we will get a routine down. I will be exhausted but what new mom isn't? There are lots of appointments coming up and even more in the future. We have an appointment with the cardiologist in Kansas City on the 1st of October and it is then we will know more about how many surgeries to expect and when they plan on doing the first one. It will be at least 3 months maybe longer due to flu season... I am anxious, once she has her surgery and if all goes well she can nurse and get rid of the feeding tube. Of course there is so much more information but it is overwhelming in its self so we will keep it as simple as possible. Again, Hannah must not get sick so she is what we call home bound, no traveling except to and from her appointments. No church, shopping, and so on for little miss.
It is wonderful to be home and for Caleb to be involved. We can spend time as a family now and he just loves his baby sister. He held her for so long today and is such a proud big brother. I will finally be able to give him the attention he has been lacking the last 2 weeks. Thanks to Grandma Teed (He calls her G) we were able to focus on getting Hannah home and she has done great with Caleb. She will be leaving on Saturday and has gone far beyond the call of duty. So thank you Kayleen for all your selfless service. We have also been receiving meals daily and what a relief it has been... Thank you to all who have served our family and for the thoughts and prayers, they are greatly appreciated!
This is not going to be easy but due to the gospel and all the love and support, we know we can and will make it through this trial.... we have our good days and our bad days and today was a great day! Enjoy the pics :)
All our Love,
Sam
