Walks, Doctors, Contractions, and 40 Weeks

Today should be the day that this baby comes.... but it's not going to happen that way :) As with Caleb this little girl is going to be late. I have something to say about walking, it does not work! Yes, walking is fun and I have enjoyed going on 2 mile walks these past 3 days with my husband and son but it has not helped me progress one bit.

I started having contractions on Friday and all through the weekend. They would get about 10 minutes apart and then stop all together. When I have contractions they do not hurt, they kinda take my breath away and that is it. So we thought for sure we have to be getting close. We were so excited to go to the Doctors office today and see how far I have come and the results.... NOTHING! I am where I was 3 weeks ago, barley a 1.

I have done this once before so I know that babies come when they want and if like Caleb, 9 days later. I am fine with this but what I am not okay with is every time I go to see the DR. its like they have taken scare tactics class 101.

The DR. we saw today went on to say why they don't want me to go passed a week and one of the reasons was still birth becomes a possibility. Why do they have to share these things with you? When I was at this stage with Caleb they never shared this information with me or asked me if I wanted to be induced. They simply said well you are late lets do a stress test and take it from there.

I still feel the same way about inductions as I did a week ago... let the baby come on her own if she can or of course if it gets to the point where she has to come out an induction will have to do. However, I feel like their scare tactics are working my nerves. I only want the best for my baby, so does this mean do what the DR says or stick to my guns? For now we have a stress test on Thursday and they have emailed my DR. to see how long he is willing to let me go before he pulls the plug... from the sounds of it he may not let me go past Monday night and then he is going to induce. I feel frustrated! As much as we want her with us and as exciting and tempting inductions are we just want to the right thing and I am upset that they try and scare you into inducing. They started asking before I even hit my due date. Aren't DRS. supposed to help calm your nerves? If I heard correctly I don't even think you are considered post term until after 42 weeks...

So here we are 40 weeks today and no baby, a stress test on Thursday, a lot to think about, a clean home, and a happy family waiting for our little girl to make her debut!

Pregnancy Update

This is me at 38 weeks... I am almost finished :) So what the doctor says: My doc wanted to induce me this Wednesday and as exciting as it sounded I said no. I am not a believer in being induced unless of course the baby needs to come out for medical reasons and or it is way past the due date. The problem I have with my pregnancies is that I just don't seem to dialate... for the past 3 weeks I have been at barley a one. This is progress compared to my pregnancy with Caleb. Caleb was 9 days late and did have an induce date for the 14th of August but the little man came on his own. I go to the doctor again tomorrow and I am sure he will ask again... I want to tell him not at least until after I have reached the actual due date of September 1st. My hope is this little girl will come on her own and induction will no longer be an option. I feel like inductions are really stressful for both mom and baby... any advice or opinions are more than welcome.

I have been having some contractions on and off over the weekend and I will update as needed.

August 2009

August has been a busy but super fun month. Caleb turned 2 on the 12th but not only did he get one birthday celebration he got two. We went Omaha on the 1st and my family gave him a little birthday surprise.
Caleb loves anything that has wheels and goes vroom. Caleb is such a special part of our family, he brings so much joy to mine and Ricky's life. I have loved watching him grow into the little man he has become. It is obvious even if I do not like it that my baby is really no longer a baby. Caleb will no doubt be an amazing big brother... this little man has so much love and has the most sweet spirit. He is just 2 but I often times think of how one day I will blink and he will no longer be a boy but a grown man. Leave it to a child to teach you how to love the simple joys in life that Heavenly Father has given us. Caleb has taught us so much in the last two years. It amazes me how you could be in a not so good mood but one look at a child's smiling, anxious face can bring you so much happiness. Children really are a piece of heaven on earth.
Things Caleb enjoys:
Cars, trucks, trains, coloring, playing outside, playing ball with dad, jumping off of things, chicken nuggets, Curious George, swimming, nursery, flying kites, and anything that a two year old boy can find to do :)

Summer Fun

July has been a fun packed month. We have been working in our garden, before and after pics coming soon. For the 4th we went to a drag racing derby, it was so loud I thought Caleb may just not be able to hear anymore, to my amazement he can still hear and loved the races.

We also went to a 4th of July festival which included a car show, a super sized duck, hand painting, police cars, and train rides. In Kansas you don't need to go anywhere special for a great firework show, just sit on your back porch and watch the neighbor hood light up!

We have made friends with our neighbors and have done a few things with them. Just recently we went to the Mexican carnival in town... Caleb loved it and had so much fun with Addie. I had my first funnel cake and it was yum.... I could smell it the entire time we were there and I really thought I would lose it but it was good :)

The Circus came to town! We did not go to the circus due to the prices being outrageous. So during the day we took advantage of the free petting zoo they held before show times. Caleb's favorite was the horses and his least favorite... the elephants... he was terrified of Dumbo :(

Some thoughts I have had lately:

I am going to have 2 kids....feeling a little nervous.... I also can't believe Caleb will be 2 in August, man how time goes by.

I am not sure that I like the health care in Kansas.... I will let you know after the baby is born.

Caleb is so sweet and I often have thoughts of hoping he makes good choices in life and that Rick and I can teach him the right and that he will have a love for Heavenly Father, the Savior, and this gospel as do I.

I still miss Iowa but it gets better every day in Topeka :)

I have an amazing husband! I sometimes feel like I a am in a dream and need pinched to wake up... that our marriage and life together is to good to be true!

Something fun we do once a week is go to the library... this trip we took was to go see Mr. Stinky Feet. Rick was such a sport and volunteered to dance to a song.

We also enjoy going for walks when the weather permits and I have the best car washers in town!

I have also learned when your 2 year old is being really quiet there is a reason, hence the picture of all the tissues. George his monkey was his partner in crime!

Included are pics of Ricky doing yard work ( I sit in my chair and watch), the circus, Mexican carnival, circus animals, pregnant me at 8 months, our new friends, and other summer fun pics. These are not in order due to how they upload so I will put captions when needed and enjoy!
